History of the Power Six Group

Representing the former students from Honors Khmer Literature class or, simply called Khmer Class at Preah Sisowath High School, The Power Six Group is rooted from the six values: belief, innovation, leadership, unity, hospitability, and wisdom--bonding together to become special trademark, qualification, and identity of the whole team. The team believes in our valueless history, which is a reverberation of our timeless value. And to maintain the integrity of us, this group has been established.

Invited by Mr. Oum Sophanara, Sami Dorant, Var Sovannarath and Jin SahakVittu in late 2002, the group was not yet named as Power Six, and their activities were group-centered rather than class-centered. As they progressed to 2003, they began to introduce the individual ideology to the class. The PS group kept changing its leading members by means of improving the group standards. Next came the thrilling when they pronounced the official name for the group: The Power Six Group. Two weeks after the establishment of The PS group, on April 4th 2004, our magazine The PS News was formed and published for the public. During the first stage, the PS News’s reputation laid within the Khmer Class. But as the PS Group created new policy of public relation expansion, PS News started building its pervasive fame throughout the Preah Sisowath High School campus. Following this was the appointment of some new staffs for administration section: Sar Monirattanak as technical support manager and Heak Sothea as publish director. Derived from this, the PS group was completed onto its aspect.

In the late 2003, Var Sovannarath and Jin SahakVittu left Khmer Class for Math and Physic class respectively, while Oum Sophanara failed to qualify for being a member in Khmer Class. Despite these departures, there were no significant impact to the administration system and performance. Replacing these two elites, Dorant was appointed as a CEO of the PS Group, and he included new names such as Ros Samnang and Chhaly Samsokrith. Coming to 2005, which is the final year at high school - their activities were slightly impacted by the exit exam’s consequences. However, they still dedicate their times and efforts to create a few more entertaining products for the class. During that period, the group consists of Dorant, Denith(Samsokrith), Rattanak, Sot Visal, Kong Tola and Lim Panha.

Today the Power Six Group has new administrative faces: Samy Dorant, President of the PS; Sar MoniRattanak, President’s Senior Secretary; Chhaly Samsokrith, PS News Director and Vice-President of the PS, Siv Monirath, Public Assistant; Yan Loung, Consultant; and Ros Samnang, PS representatives. We have so much to improve, and we are always aware of our shortcomings; however, we are trying our best to make a stronger and more innovative PS Group.
